Paul's Musical Bio
Paul Stein is a versatile accordionist, composer, songwriter, and vocalist with
an eclectic musical career. He is a student of Dr. William Schimmel.

Paul entertains thousands every holiday season at community dinners and
parties and performs at selected venues throughout the year. He is a regular in
the annual concert/seminar series produced by Dr. Schimmel for the American
Accordionists' Association at the Tenri Gallery in Manhattan.

Paul appeared as a guest member of the Kirov Orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall
in the Lincoln Center Festival. He has been a featured entertainer and
interviewee on WNBC TV's Live at Five. His performances have aired on
WCBS TV news, 1010 WINS radio, and various other media outlets. He was
interviewed for the WNET TV City Arts program on the accordion.

Paul has composed a number of traditional klezmer pieces, while his
instrumental works range from tango to big band music. His songs (music and
lyrics) range from country and western to folk and union to romantic show
music. He performed several of his Eastern European melodies as incidental
music for a Columbia University Graduate Theater Program production of
Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. His one act musical was presented in
concert format in Manhattan.

Paul performs standards in English and Yiddish at public and private events.
He has provided the live musical background for exhibition openings
sponsored by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and the Lower East Side
Tenement Museum and by the Museum of the City of New York. He has
entertained numerous patients in nursing homes and hospitals and at senior
centers. On occasion, Paul's accordion has been heard at weddings and other
simchas, including leading a wedding procession through the streets of
Brooklyn.

A union activist, Paul was featured on a float in the New York City Labor Day
Parade leading members in traditional labor songs and his own contemporary
labor songs. He has performed at various picket lines and other union
functions. He has accompanied the anti-war contingent in the Montclair, New
Jersey July 4th Parade. Over 35 years ago, he played part of his Jewish
repertoire on the steps of the main synagogue in Moscow.

Paul enjoys expressing himself through his music and helping others to express
themselves and celebrate special occasions.
